Iran’s Acting Oil Minister: Petrochemical Capacity Must Be Used to Strengthen the Economy

The acting oil minister said the governing role of the National Petrochemical Company must be strengthened, and that the industry’s capacity should be used to create jobs, raise output, generate income, and strengthen Iran’s economy.

RoydadNaft –  The acting oil minister said the governing role of the National Petrochemical Company must be strengthened, and that the industry’s capacity should be used to create jobs, raise output, generate income, and strengthen Iran’s economy.

According to Roydad Naft, Hamid Bovard spoke on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at a meeting with the chief executive and senior managers of the National Petrochemical Company. The petrochemical industry has a notable place in the national economy and significant capacity to add value and generate income, he said.

The regulatory and governing role of the National Petrochemical Company in the industry must be pursued seriously on several fronts and defined clearly, and he will support that path in every respect.

The products market must be managed carefully

Market conditions, product prices, and the supply mechanism must be examined and managed carefully in cooperation with the relevant sectors, so the industry’s capacity can be used properly, Bovard said.

Petrochemical products go into many goods in daily life. The industry’s work is not limited to producing and exporting base products. It also supplies a large share of the needs of Iran’s downstream industries.

Existing capacity must be used for jobs, higher production, income, and a stronger economy. Developing the industry can have significant economic and social effects, and attention to that development matters a great deal, he said.

Petrochemical entry into field development must be pursued seriously

On stable feedstock for petrochemical plants, entry of the industry into development of Iran’s oil and gas fields, aimed at steady feedstock, must be on the agenda and followed with force.

Basic steps are needed to keep petrochemical exports going and bring foreign currency home. The currency from those exports should return to the national economic cycle, Bovard said.

Reconstruction of petrochemical units damaged in the third imposed war must be followed seriously, and every available capacity used to speed that work.

Everyone should work for the country’s goals

Thanking managers and colleagues in the industry, he said a range of experience and expertise has gathered there, and all players are expected to work with extra motivation to advance the country’s goals.

The oil industry’s performance in the first half of this year (March 21–September 22, 2026) and in the third imposed war was sound despite the conditions and limits, and that trend must continue with force. Everyone should work with self-belief and extra motivation, and higher speed, to open the way for the goals to be met.

From his position, he will give whatever help and support he can, within his means, to solve problems and advance the petrochemical industry’s development programs.
