The manager of the Khuzestan region of the National Iranian Oil Products Pipeline and Telecommunications Company said a limited diesel fuel leak on the 12-inch Abadan–Ahvaz pipeline had been detected and contained.

RoydadNaft – The manager of the Khuzestan region of the National Iranian Oil Products Pipeline and Telecommunications Company said a limited diesel fuel leak on the 12-inch Abadan–Ahvaz pipeline had been detected and contained.

According to Roydad Naft, citing the company’s Khuzestan regional office, Mehrdad Haghighian said on Thursday, October 8, that the incident occurred in the early hours of October 7 after fuel thieves illegally tapped into the pipeline.

He said pressure and flow monitoring systems quickly detected the incident, prompting the immediate suspension of fuel transfers and the dispatch of operations and security teams to the site.

Haghighian added that, thanks to the swift response of company personnel, the area was secured, the leak contained, the pipeline repaired and the site cleaned up in the shortest possible time. The pipeline has since returned to service.

He emphasized that the necessary security measures to prevent similar thefts are being pursued in cooperation with judicial and law enforcement authorities.

The Khuzestan region’s pipeline network serves as a vital energy transportation link, playing a key role in meeting the needs of the country’s refineries and industrial facilities.
