Second South Pars Propane Tank in Iran Enters Export Service
RoydadNaft – The second propane tank at the South Pars Phases 22–24 refinery has entered service with domestically made cryogenic pumps, and the first export cargo from the tank has been loaded.
Babak Zare, acting deputy for development projects at Pars Oil and Gas Company, said Iranian manufacturers designed and built some of the cryogenic pumps required for the LPG tanks on the Phases 22–24 project, Roydad Naft reported. Cryogenic pumps are specialized, sensitive equipment in the LPG storage and loading chain. Reliable domestic design and performance can raise local content on similar oil and gas projects, he said.
After installation, commissioning and tests, and with representatives of the project, the contractor, the manufacturer, the 12th South Pars refinery and National Iranian Gas Company dispatching present, the first propane export cargo from the second LPG tank was loaded successfully.
Amirfarzan Fazelian, project manager for Phases 22–24, said site acceptance testing (SAT) of the pumps on the second propane tank cleared the equipment for operations and export loading. More than 6,500 tons of liquid propane were loaded. The job both proved the Iranian cryogenic pumps in real operating conditions and put the southern propane tank into the export-loading cycle, completing another piece of Phases 22–24 infrastructure, he said.
