Iran’s Nehbandan–Sarbisheh Gas Line Set to Come Online Before Winter

The governor of South Khorasan Province said the Nehbandan–Sarbisheh gas transmission line in Iran is more than 80% complete and will enter service before winter.

RoydadNaft –  The governor of South Khorasan Province said the Nehbandan–Sarbisheh gas transmission line in Iran is more than 80% complete and will enter service before winter.

According to Roydad Naft, Seyed Mohammad Reza Hashemi inspected the project today and said the line will be commissioned before the start of the winter season.

The line is about 130 kilometers long. Under the contractor’s agreement, work is supposed to be finished by the end of September 2026 so the Nehbandan–Sarbisheh line can be tied into the Sarbisheh–Birjand line.

Hashemi said all required materials have been supplied and construction is under way on 17 fronts at the same time, putting the project near its final stage.

He put the line’s capacity at about 8 million to 10 million cubic meters of gas a day. Once in service, he said, it will meet demand in South Khorasan and also support the wider grid, including supply to Razavi Khorasan Province.

Peak gas use in South Khorasan, not counting power plants, is more than 7 million cubic meters a day. Completing the line will strengthen gas infrastructure in eastern Iran and help ease the country’s gas imbalance, he said.

The planned budget is about 3 trillion tomans. Hashemi said the funds have been provided and paid under the government’s commitments.

He thanked residents of villages along the route as well as contractors and project crews. The project moved into execution in less than eight months, he said, and officials are trying to bring it online in less than a year.

Hashemi said that if the current pace holds and work is finished on schedule, the Nehbandan–Sarbisheh line will enter service before the cold season and help secure stable gas supply in the province.
