Iranian-Built Reciprocating Compressors Installed at Binak Gas-Boosting Station
RoydadNaft – Reciprocating compressors for the gas-boosting station at the Binak oil field near Genaveh, Bushehr province, have been designed, built, shipped and installed to international oil-industry standards using Iranian manufacturers, Petroiran Development Group’s deputy CEO said.
Ali Khanipour said the group is running several national jobs, including South Pars infill drilling; an integrated IPC development of the Saman, Soumar and Delavaran fields; and production-maintenance and output-growth work at Binak and Mansourabad, Roydad Naft reported.
The Binak contract was awarded by the National Iranian South Oil Company. Petroiran, as an NIOC execution arm, is leading the project. Aims include raising Binak output, cutting flaring by gathering associated gas, creating jobs, protecting the environment and building local capability.
The compressor station is designed to gather and move 15 million cubic feet of gas a day. Three trains of reciprocating compressors will take associated gas after oil separation and raise it in two stages to 54 bar.
Building machines of this size and specification is a design, fabrication and quality-control challenge, Khanipour said. Construction, transport and installation followed international standards including API 618 and Iran’s IPS. Testing and preparation were completed, and moving the units onto foundations about 20 kilometers from Genaveh was one of the project’s main recent milestones.
Doing that work under limits on foreign equipment shows Iranian engineers and fabricators can supply strategic oil and gas machinery, he said. Using domestic makers also cuts import dependence and builds technical know-how.
When the station starts up it should gather associated gas, reduce flaring, use hydrocarbons more efficiently and support stable production. Khanipour thanked NISOC, contractors and manufacturers and said he hoped the Binak project would enter service soon while meeting technical, quality, safety and environmental requirements.
