Iran’s Fajr Jam Gas Refinery Moves Ahead on Renewable Energy and Efficiency
RoydadNaft – The managing director of Iran’s Fajr Jam Gas Refining Company said the plant is carrying out a package of projects to expand renewable energy, raise efficiency, and support more stable gas production.
According to Roydad Naft, Hamid Khedri stressed the importance of energy-consumption management and said the company’s facilities unit has overhauled and optimized boiler houses to improve equipment performance and cut energy use.
On solar power, he said a 30-kilowatt solar plant has been built at the refinery and a 50-kilowatt plant at the Siraf port facilities. A further expansion of the Siraf solar plant to 125 kilowatts is under way and is scheduled to come online by the end of the Iranian year 1405, in March 2027.
Khedri said a permit has also been obtained to build a 2.5-megawatt solar plant as part of a 15.5-megawatt joint project in the residential complex, another step toward cleaner energy and better demand management.
Reducing flare gas is another priority, he said. Effective measures have been taken by eliminating passing valves and optimizing process-control conditions.
To improve equipment efficiency, two boilers underwent chemical cleaning in August 2026. In addition, the amine solution in sweetening unit 4800 is being switched from DEA/MDEA to MDEA to improve process performance and raise unit productivity.
On electricity use, a smart-meter project is under way so industrial areas and buildings can be monitored more closely. Eighteen smart meters have been installed at the operating site and 18 in buildings.
A permit has also been issued to install smart meters in homes in the Towhid residential complex. That project is now in the scope-of-work and funding stage. Khedri said the overall program is aimed at higher efficiency, lower energy use, conservation of resources, and more reliable gas production and supply, and that energy-consumption management must be treated as an inseparable part of sustainable production.
