Iran’s Ilam Petrochemical Opens 600-Cubic-Meter-per-Hour Reverse Osmosis Water Plant
RoydadNaft – Ilam Petrochemical Company in western Iran has inaugurated a reverse osmosis (RO) water project with a combined capacity of 600 cubic meters per hour, a step officials said will improve cooling-water quality, cut raw-water use, reduce flaring, and support steady production.
The plant was opened in the presence of Darabi, Ilam Province’s deputy governor for civil affairs coordination; the governor of Chavar County; provincial officials; and company CEO Yousef Sharifi, Roydad Naft reported.
Sharifi said the RO unit was built to raise the quality of the complex’s cooling water, lower consumption of raw water, cut flaring, and keep output running. He said the project will significantly reduce the plant’s use of untreated water. Using better-quality water, he added, will help protect equipment and cooling heat exchangers and support continuous operations.
He put the project’s cost at about 4 trillion rials plus €3.4 million and described it as one of the company’s main water-management and resource-efficiency projects.
Sharifi said the RO system will also cut use of high-TDS water, reduce flaring, and improve environmental conditions at the complex. He called it a move to protect water resources, raise efficiency, lower water costs, and strengthen production stability.
Darabi said 20 civil projects had been carried out in Chavar County for Government Week, with total spending of 672 billion tomans. He described the RO project — built with an investment of about 1 trillion tomans by Ilam Petrochemical specialists — as a sign of attention to industrial development and domestic capacity. He noted that the complex kept producing during the Ramadan war despite difficult conditions.
Darabi stressed that industrial growth should go hand in hand with environmental protection and pointed to waste management and other environmental projects as complementary steps for sustainable development at Ilam Petrochemical.
