Iran’s Oil Ministry Presses to Restore Major Lost Gas Production Capacity

Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has announced an all-out effort to restore a substantial portion of the country’s lost gas production capacity.

RoydadNaft –  Iran’s Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad has announced an all-out effort to restore a substantial portion of the country’s lost gas production capacity.

According to Roydad Naft, Paknejad made the remarks on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, on the sidelines of a meeting of the Supreme Energy Council in an interview with IRIB News Agency. He stated: “We are making every effort to return a major share of the constraints that have emerged in gas production to the production cycle before the start of the cold season.”

He added that, given the remaining limitations in production, decisions needed to be taken on energy consumption management across different sectors in order to manage energy use.

Reconstruction operations are underway, relying on the technical capabilities of domestic specialists, coherent management, and the round-the-clock efforts of oil industry personnel, with implementation progressing in phased stages.

Damaged capacities will be gradually brought back online under the integrated management of the Ministry of Oil through a set of engineering and process measures as part of short-term programs following the third imposed war.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah had stated on July 20, 2026, at a meeting of the Crisis Management Committee of the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Asaluyeh, while expressing appreciation for the efforts of oil and gas industry staff: “Despite the threats and risks, none of the country’s oil and gas jetties were shut down, and the industry’s personnel did not allow the production cycle to stop.”

He noted that enemy attacks had taken approximately 230 million cubic meters of Iran’s gas production capacity offline. This volume, he said, is significant compared with the country’s production of about 650 million cubic meters and has added to the pre-existing gas imbalance. However, through the efforts of oil and gas industry personnel, it is expected that 100 million cubic meters of this capacity will be returned to the production cycle within the next few months.
