RoydadNaft –  The chief executive of Petropars Group, a subsidiary of the Oil Ministry, said gas production capacity at location B of South Pars Phase 11 has reached 1 billion cubic feet a day after all 12 wells at the site came on stream during the 14th government.

According to Roydad Naft, citing Petropars Group, Hamidreza Saghafi said the number of producing wells at location B rose from four to 12 in this government, and gas capacity at the site doubled in the first 17 months of the 14th administration.

In the same period more than 26,480 meters were drilled, and well completion and acidizing continued until every well was producing, he said.

Reaching 1 billion cubic feet a day at location B is the result of continued drilling, completion, and preparation of the wells for production. Higher output in one of the most border-adjacent parts of the shared South Pars field protects national interests, strengthens Iran’s gas supply, and helps ease the energy imbalance, Saghafi said.

After foreign companies defaulted and withdrew, further development of Phase 11 was assigned to Petropars. With the twelfth well on stream, gas output on the Phase 11 B platform has risen above 28 million cubic meters a day, and about 17 million cubic meters a day has been added during the 14th government.

About 50,000 meters have been drilled at location B, and one rig has been used on the drilling campaign, he said.

As NIOC’s execution arm, Petropars has carried the project from drilling and well completion through offshore and surface facilities. Work continued under sanctions and through two imposed-war episodes and did not stop, subject to technical and safety requirements.

On Phase 11 location A, Saghafi said that in the 14th government, after the jacket was rolled up, construction was completed, and the structure was loaded out and sea-fastened, the jacket was installed in its final position. Piling continued in a tense Persian Gulf after ceasefire violations. Over the past two years, despite difficult conditions, deck construction has gone on and is now the project’s focus. Progress has risen from under 4% to about 50%.

Phase 11 has reached a point where the work of Iranian specialists shows up directly in higher production and field development, he said. Petropars will keep developing the phase with a focus on raising capacity, protecting national interests, and carrying out Oil Ministry policy.
