Iran and Pakistan Must Strengthen Energy Cooperation, President Says

President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran and Pakistan need deeper economic and energy cooperation and that the two countries can meet many of their needs through their own and regional capabilities.

RoydadNaft –  President Masoud Pezeshkian said Iran and Pakistan need deeper economic and energy cooperation and that the two countries can meet many of their needs through their own and regional capabilities.

According to Roydad Naft, citing the government’s information website, Pezeshkian met Syed Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan’s interior minister, on the evening of Monday, September 21, 2026. He pointed to a sharp rise in bilateral ties and said Tehran is pleased that Islamabad is following up cooperation on a continuous basis. He expressed hope that engagement would continue more seriously across all fields.

U.S. pressure has encouraged greater convergence and ongoing contact among Islamic countries, Pezeshkian said, and the frequent meetings and talks between Iranian and Pakistani delegations are a clear example of that trend.

He stressed the need for more investment and closer links between different sectors of the two countries. With more investment, wider contacts, and easier economic cooperation, he said, Iran–Pakistan relations can deepen further.

Naqvi said he was pleased to meet Iran’s president and emphasized the importance of raising the level of bilateral relations.
