Iran Launches New Projects to Keep Gas Flowing to Industry and Power Plants
RoydadNaft – The head of District 6 of Iran’s gas transmission operations said more than 10 pipeline and compressor-station projects are under way to strengthen the network and supply gas to industry, power plants, and refineries in Hormozgan and Kerman provinces.
According to Roydad Naft, citing Fars News Agency, Hamidreza Bani-Asadi said stable gas supply for industry, power plants, and petroleum-product refineries in Hormozgan and Kerman is a core responsibility of the district, one of the strategic units in Iran’s gas transmission network. The high share of industrial and strategic consumers versus households, a 12-inch submarine pipeline, and a 30-inch HDD pipeline under the seabed add to the district’s operational importance, he said.
Among the district’s main completed steps, he listed repairs of earthquake damage at the Ab-Shirin compressor station, a safety project on the seventh national gas trunkline (IGAT-7), pipeline integrity work, follow-up to close out defects on development projects, installation and commissioning of a domestically made air compressor, and installation of insulating joints at Ab-Shirin.
More than 10 projects are now under way on pipelines and civil works, along with several compressor-station schemes. The most important include stabilizing and securing the IGAT-7 route, repair and inspection of submarine pipelines, construction of civil works and protective walls, installation of solar power units in Kerman and Ab-Shirin, and overhauls of turbines and facilities.
Bani-Asadi said the main development projects now in execution are a new district operations building and the Shahid Rahbar facilities. Those works will later allow valve and pressure control on IGAT-7 and more stable gas supply to southern Iran through those lines.
More than five pipeline-expansion projects are also under way to raise network reliability, strengthen energy infrastructure, and meet rising demand from industry and power plants. They include the Pariz–Kerman, Minab–Sirik, and Bandar Abbas–Laft–Gurzin transmission lines.
On maintenance, he said dozens of repair and preventive operations have been carried out at the district’s operating centers, including leak repairs, replacement of valves and strategic equipment, upkeep of compressor stations, and cleaning pigging of 734 kilometers of pipeline.
