Downstream Petrochemicals Can Take a Larger Share of Iran’s Economy, Lawmaker Says
RoydadNaft – Downstream petrochemical industries can play a much larger role in Iran’s economy if they get proper planning and investment, Seyed Esmaeil Hosseini the member of parliament’s energy commission said.
Seyed Esmaeil Hosseini told Roydad Naft, citing NIPNA, that petrochemical development has continued despite war and sanctions and is visible across several segments. The industry should be supported as a driver of growth, he said.
Balanced development can create more value added. Gains already made under sanctions and wartime conditions show what the sector can deliver, Hosseini said. Expanding both upstream petrochemicals and downstream units would create jobs, and skilled staff make the planned programs achievable.
Complementary petrochemical industries have taken a solid share of the economy in recent years, he said, so strengthening that segment requires planning and investment.
