Iran Completes Well-Intervention Work to Secure South Pars Gas Output

Well-intervention operations have been carried out on three South Pars gas platforms to make wells safer and support stable gas production.

RoydadNaft –  Well-intervention operations have been carried out on three South Pars gas platforms to make wells safer and support stable gas production.

Mohammad Ioman, head of well-services for South Pars at Pars Oil and Gas Company, said a 40-day summer 2026 program completed six well-intervention jobs on three platforms, Roydad Naft reported. The work was run with the operations and support deputy and the petroleum and gas engineering department.

Well services led the jobs with backing from other units in POGC’s operations and support deputy. Doing the work without a drilling rig cut operational complexity and produced substantial cost savings, Ioman said.

Weather and moving equipment in rough seas were among the challenges. Crews worked on the upper decks in temperatures above 50 degrees Celsius and high humidity. Timely planning and management, and fast supply of spare parts, still allowed the program to finish successfully, he said.

Results included overhaul of subsurface safety valves and the recovery, servicing and reinstallation of that equipment to secure the wells and keep platform output stable. Accurate reservoir data were also recorded from several producing wells.

Those data will be used as a baseline for modeling and simulating South Pars reservoir behavior in coming years, Ioman said. Completing the work safely in difficult conditions, he added, shows that Iranian teams can carry out specialized downhole services, maintain equipment and keep South Pars facilities producing.
