RoydadNaft –  Iran’s government spokeswoman said non-quota gasoline bought with station cards will rise to 10,000 tomans a liter from early Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026, while subsidized ration prices stay the same.

Fatemeh Mohajerani told Roydad Naft that the 1,500-toman and 3,000-toman ration allocations will not change. Only the pump price for fueling with station cards will move to 10,000 tomans from the start of Sept. 8, a step she said is meant to balance supply and demand and manage the fuel imbalance.

As previously pledged to the public, she said, quota gasoline remains 60 liters at 1,500 tomans and 50 liters at 3,000 tomans.

Earlier policy had pushed consumption higher and left supply and demand out of balance, Mohajerani said. Correcting that trend is necessary to keep supply stable and strengthen national resilience.

On the supply side, she said the government has raised output so that domestic production capacity serves the public. On the demand side, it is also expanding public transport and CNG.

Various figures were discussed in expert meetings, she said, but 10,000 tomans was chosen because of the president’s pledge to the public.

According to figures from the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, 85% of people will cover their needs with the combined 110-liter ration, she said. Rules and proceeds from the price change will go to public livelihoods, with reports to follow.
