PM Modi Launches India’s First Greenfield Refinery-Petrochemical Hub In Rajasthan
RoydadNaft – Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India’s first greenfield integrated refinery-cum-petrochemical complex at Pachpadra in Rajasthan’s Balotra district.
The facility, developed as a joint venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Government of Rajasthan, represents an investment exceeding Rs 79,450 crore.
The state-of-the-art complex integrates refining and petrochemical production capabilities within a single facility.
The refinery boasts an annual refining capacity of 9 million metric tonnes and a petrochemical production capacity of 2.4 million metric tonnes.
The facility features a Nelson Complexity Index of 17.0, amongst the highest in India, with petrochemical yields exceeding 26 per cent, aligning with global benchmarks for efficiency.
The complex integrates 29 process units, including crude distillation, vacuum distillation, and multiple petrochemical production facilities.
The facility’s dedication, initially scheduled for 21 April, was postponed following a fire incident at the Crude Distillation Unit on 20 April.
The facility has since completed necessary safety assessments and commenced commercial operations ahead of today’s formal dedication.
The complex is expected to strengthen India’s energy security while reducing dependence on imported petrochemicals.
The facility will serve as an anchor industry for the development of a proposed Petrochemical and Plastic Park in the region, promoting downstream industries and ancillary sectors.
The project is poised to generate substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities, contributing to the socio-economic development of western Rajasthan.
