India Buys Iranian Oil for the First Time in 7 Years

Reuters reported that India has made its first purchase of Iranian oil in seven years — and completed the payment without any issues.

RoydadNaft –  Reuters reported that India has made its first purchase of Iranian oil in seven years — and completed the payment without any issues.

According to Roydad Naft, citing Reuters, Indian refineries have resumed buying Iranian oil for the first time since 2019.

CNBC also reported: After a seven-year break, India has carried out its first purchase of Iranian oil with no payment problems.

India has resumed importing Iranian crude oil following a seven-year hiatus. This move comes amid ongoing disruptions in oil supply across the Middle East and difficulties with tanker transit through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Indian Ministry of Petroleum stated that there are no obstacles to making payments, and the country’s reliance on more than 40 different nations for its oil needs has helped maintain supply stability.

Imports of Iranian liquefied natural gas (LNG) are also continuing in order to fully meet India’s energy requirements.
