President: Iranians consume over two times more energy than Europeans

President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the excessive energy consumption in Iran, stating, "We use more than two to three times the electricity and gas consumed by European countries.”

RoydadNaft –  President Masoud Pezeshkian highlighted the excessive energy consumption in Iran, stating, “We use more than two to three times the electricity and gas consumed by European countries.”

He went on to say that this high level of consumption, which includes various types of fuels, also causes pollution resulting from our inefficient usage patterns.

Speaking on Monday, Pezeshkian stressed the need for energy consumption management.

“While this should not be the case, our improper usage not only leads to wastage but also creates costs that are ultimately borne by the government and, in reality, by the people. These expenses prevent us from improving public services, staff wages, and people’s livelihoods,” he explained.

The president urged citizens to adopt simple energy-saving habits, such as turning off unnecessary lights, lowering home heating, and wearing warmer clothing.

“By conserving energy, we can allocate saved resources to regions facing challenges in gas delivery due to extreme cold and limited transmission capacity, ensuring everyone benefits from this vital resource,” he said.

Pezeshkian noted that responsible consumption would enable the stable delivery of gas nationwide, eliminating the need to cut gas and electricity supplies to power plants, factories, and industries.

“Industry and production are vital for sustaining livelihoods. With collective effort, we can drive the country’s economy forward, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for everyone,” he emphasized.

The president further remarked, “What difference does it make if we use one light instead of four, or reduce home heating slightly? The savings would be substantial, preserving national resources. Instead of wasting these resources, we can redirect them toward production, job creation, and economic growth, ensuring a better future for the country.”
