Speaking in a video conference on the occasion of National Firefighting and Safety Day, he identified having the right approach, an operational plan, and motivated personnel as three key components in achieving zero accidents.

He expressed his gratitude to all employees in the HSE unit who are wholeheartedly striving to reduce the number of accidents to zero and congratulated his colleagues in the operational units, especially in the Iranian energy capital, Assaluyeh, and the South Pars Gas Complex, on Firefighting and Safety Day.

“HSE is not just limited to this unit and its inspectors, but rather, what we know as total HSE is related to every individual”, he said adding that sustainable development occurs when a win-win game is underway, with the environment as one side.

The deputy Petroleum minister, referred to the complex nature of the gas industry, its diversity, breadth, and distribution of facilities, which make the presence of multiple risks and catastrophic accidents inevitable, noting that risk management, accident prevention, and utilizing existing capacities, should be at the forefront of all work and activities.

Tavakoli mentioned that one of the important neglected topics in HSE is ergonomics (the science of examining human capacities and capabilities), which should be thoroughly studied and properly implemented.

Expressing his hope to steer the gas industry toward a situation where no accidents occur anywhere in the country, he stated that achieving this goal requires the right approach, an operational plan, and, more importantly, motivated, spirited, and loyal individuals who can drive this industry towards zero accidents.
