Canadian spot natural gas prices fell on Monday as temperatures moderated, Alberta supplies ballooned and and futures tumbled.

RoydadNaft –  Canadian spot natural gas prices fell on Monday as temperatures moderated, Alberta supplies ballooned and and futures tumbled.

Spot gas at the AECO storage hub in southeastern Alberta fell 18 Canadian cents from Friday to average C$3.78 a gigajoule. Deals were done between C$3.70 and C$3.82 a GJ.

Environment Canada called for Toronto temperatures to climb to seasonal values for the next six days. Southern Alberta temperatures are forecast to be much warmer than normal through Friday.

Alberta’s main pipeline system ran at 16.9 billion cubic feet, 772 million cubic feet above the target set by operator TransCanada Corp .

Producers delivered 9.2 bcf into the system and 2.3 bcf was withdrawn from storage facilities in the provinces.

Export prices dipped. Spot gas at Niagara, Ontario, sold for an average $5.28 per mmBtu, down 3 cents from Friday.

Gas at Huntingdon-Sumas on the Washington-British Columbia border averaged $4.27 per mmBtu, down a penny.
