Sanctions-hit oil industry self-sufficiency possible by relying on knowledge-based firms: RIPI head

RPI head argues Iran's oil industry needs domestic knowledge-based companies and research centers to achieve self-sufficiency, citing past threats from Western countries and arrogant powers.

RoydadNaft –  The Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) head on Tuesday said Iran’s oil industry has been targeted by arrogant powers and Western countries’ sanctions since the past and the only way to attain self-sufficiency is to rely on domestic knowledge-based companies and research centers.

Azim Kalantari-Asl, who made the remarks at the opening ceremony of the 2nd Exhibition and Conference of Technology Management and Increasing Knowledge-based Production in Value Chain of Petroleum Industry dubbed Petro Tech, added the event offers participants a favorable opportunity to get familiar with knowledge-based companies’ capabilities.

According to him, 22 specialized sessions have been organized today with the aim of beating off technological challenges facing the oil industry.

Kalantari-Asl, who is also the 2nd Petro Tech conference and exhibition executive secretary, said several contracts and tens of agreements will be signed during the three-day event.

The side exhibition has 120 booths showcasing the knowledge-based companies’ achievements free of charge, he continued.

The 1st Petro Tech conference and exhibition was held in November 2022.
