Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan: We are ready to increase gas exports to Iran
RoydadNaft – Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan announced his country’s desireincrease gas exports to Iran and said: Iran and Turkmenistan have common culture, religion and customs.
Rashid Mardouf said at the conclusion of the 17th Iran-Turkmenistan Joint Commission on Saturday night: In the last 2 days, the cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan was reviewed and constructive negotiations were held.
He emphasized on the increase of gas cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan and added: We have made proposals and Turkmenistan is ready to export gas to Iran and increase it, and we are ready to actively pursue this issue with Iran in the near future.
Rashid Mardouf continued: In 1997, a gas contract with Iran was signed and implemented, and we are still ready for gas cooperation.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said: “The issue of gas swap is ongoing between the two countries, and we want to continue and increase it.” We are also ready to implement gas projects with Iran.
He emphasized on joint electrical cooperation: Now there is electrical cooperation between the two countries and we want to export electricity to third countries through Iran and have an agreement on this matter.
The Turkmen head of the Joint Economic Cooperation Commission of Iran and Turkmenistan announced his country’s desire to develop relations and cooperation in the agricultural sector and continued: Iran has made achievements in the agricultural sector and we request to use these achievements.
Rashid Mardouf emphasized on the development of cooperation with Iran and said: Iran and Turkmenistan have common culture, religion and customs and we hope that the cooperation will achieve good results, which is a sign of friendship and brotherhood between the two countries.
