RoydadNaft –  Referring to the fact that 7 Iranian oil fields are currently being developed by Russian companies, the CEO of Iran’s National Oil Company said: “In the development of these fields, the maximum capacity of Iran’s domestic companies is used.”

Mohsen Khojstemehr, the CEO of the National Oil Company, in the presence of journalists, pointed out that the expanded approach of the National Oil Company of Iran is the use of knowledge-based and technological technologies and added: Today, in order to realize an important part of the increase in oil production, we must use technology-oriented drilling equipment, so the rotary guided drilling tool brings us closer to this goal.

Emphasizing that in line with knowledge-based production of oil and gas, we decided to build a strategic tool under the leadership and guidance of the scientific and technological vice president of the country, he continued: the cost of making the first example of this tool is about 500 billion tomans and the National Iranian Oil Company has given a 10-year guarantee of purchase of service to the manufacturer of this tool.

The deputy oil minister stated: Oil production in some oil layers is not possible without horizontal drilling, and this tool can increase production up to 100% in these cases and raise production up to 2 times and make the increase in production economical.

Khujastemehr pointed out that one of the achievements of horizontal drilling is that it allows us to have maximum access to oil layers and increase production, he said: Also, in very thin oil layers, the possibility of vertical drilling is difficult and impossible, and we have to go to horizontal drilling. Therefore, we must use a tool that has the maximum horizontal contact with the oil layer and in the most advanced state, we can record several kilometers of horizontal drilling.

He added: The rotary guided drilling tool increases the efficiency of directional drilling and increases the work speed.

CEO of National Iranian Oil Company continued: In drilling, speed is a very important factor because about 50% of the development costs of a field are related to drilling. We should try to use new tools to drill a well that takes 110 days to 70 days so that oil production becomes economical. On the other hand, most of the new drillings are directional and this tool will be used.

Khojstemehr emphasized: Currently, 7 Iranian oil fields are being developed by Russian companies, and a significant part of technical and engineering services are provided by Iranian companies.

He clarified: According to the law of maximum use of domestic specialized capacity, Iranian companies are working together with Russian companies in the development of these 7 oil fields in the south and northwest of the country.
