One of the items in this plan is to increase production and create higher added value in order to achieve an eight percent annual growth of Iran’s economy.

Emphasizing that the National Iranian Oil Company has half-finished projects on its agenda, the Deputy Oil Minister said: The National Iranian Oil Company has 21 billion dollars worth of projects, all of which are related to production growth.

Khojstemehr added: Production growth means economic growth and income generation for the country, and the production of equipment and related goods follows the same goal.

He stated that “today we are pursuing the growth of production with the aim of achieving economic growth”, and continued: Knowledge-based economy and knowledge-based oil production are among the main goals of the oil industry.

The CEO of National Iranian Oil Company emphasized: With these measures, we will achieve productivity in production because the goal of knowledge-based oil and gas production is to increase productivity, and we must use all the country’s capabilities in this direction.

Benefiting from the maximum potential of those present in the technological ecosystem for the development of the oil industry

Declaring that “we use the capabilities of the actors and those present in the innovation ecosystem for the development of the oil industry”, Khojstemehr said: “In order to reduce production costs and project implementation time with the aim of increasing the efficiency and quality of work, we must use advanced technologies in the country and with this Actions in the direction of increasing production will lead to economic growth.

He added: We have carried out several important actions in the upstream of the oil industry, from oil production to oil export, the first of which is the implementation of technological pilots in the field of increased harvest, which is now being done in the Ahvaz field with water injection.

Deputy Minister of Oil continued: The second strategic task was the restoration of closed and low-yield wells, and so far we have signed 25 contracts with knowledge-based companies in this field.

Working on research projects for hydrogen production

Stating that “to produce clean energy, we are working on a research project to produce hydrogen”, Khojstemehr said: “One of the other valuable measures is that we were looking for the construction of strategic technological equipment, such as guided drilling equipment.”

He also said: With rotary guided drilling, maximum contact and impact of the equipment with the reservoir will be created for maximum production.

Referring to the signing of the memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a strategic center for artificial intelligence and digital oil and gas fields, Khojstemehr added: today, the world is governed on the basis of artificial intelligence, and according to the Supreme Leader of the Revolution, we must take steps to be among the 10 largest countries in the world in the use of artificial intelligence.

Oil production management using artificial intelligence

He clarified: If we want to improve the management of oil and gas reservoirs, increase oil production and increase efficiency, we must have minimum time for maximum production from common fields and manage production.

Emphasizing that “we must create digital oil and gas fields”, the Deputy Minister of Oil said: “In the light of digital transformation and intelligence, we will establish the control center of hydrocarbon fields for 15 oil and gas fields, and the memorandum was signed today.”

Khojstemehr added: In this direction, we must operate 15 digital oil and gas fields, which will reduce capital and operational costs and enable real-time monitoring in all stages for the stability of oil and gas production and the investigation of operational problems in an intelligent way.

Stating that “we must use artificial intelligence to reach the most advanced and modern equipment”, he pointed out that one of Iran’s neighboring countries is now managing and guiding its 19 oil and gas fields digitally.

The CEO of National Iranian Oil Company stated that three important measures should be taken in this direction, said: the first step is to create different working groups at the level of the subsidiary companies that are responsible for most of the oil and gas production, and with the presence of National Oil Company specialists, knowledge-based companies, exploration and production, and academic elites, they will determine the path.

Khojstemehr added: The second action will be carried out under the leadership and responsibility of the Presidential Science and Technology Vice-Chancellor, so that large technological general contractors are formed and they also create large consortia.

He continued: The third step is to create a regulatory body, reference laboratories and produce the necessary standards so that the equipment that is manufactured has a suitable use.

The easiest way to increase production is to maintain production capacity

Khojstemehr emphasized: If we want to increase production, the easiest way is to maintain production capacity and manage production, and the use of new technologies can bring Iran to this important goal.

He pointed out that the digital fields, in addition to compensating for the natural decrease in production, will also seek to maintain capacity and increase production, he said: Iran has the largest oil and gas reserves, so that it has 340 billion barrels of hydrocarbon resources, which are concentrated in 410 reservoirs.

Referring to the handing over of the drilling of 35 wells in the South Pars gas field to four Iranian exploration and production companies, the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company stated: Soon, the drilling of 35 more wells will be entrusted to other Iranian contractors.
