RoydadNaft –  In Baghdad, Maksat Babayev, Turkmenistan’s Minister of State for Gas Affairs, and his aides held an informative conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Sudani.

The two sides signed a memorandum of agreement to buy gas from Turkmenistan for Iraq’s power plants after discussing bilateral ties and energy cooperation.

On October 25, a delegation from Iraq will travel to Turkmenistan to complete contractual agreements.

According to authorities, Iraq and Turkmenistan struck a preliminary deal on Friday to import much-needed gas for the nation’s inadequate and deteriorating energy supply.

Al-Sudani frequently urges Iraq to diversify its energy sources. Iraq has been looking into a number of options, such as imports from Gulf nations like Qatar and recovering flared gas from oil fields, to lessen its reliance on Iranian gas.
