Raisi opens home-grown petrochemical complex in Iran’s Gachsaran

The most home-grown petrochemical complex of Iran has been inaugurated in the presence of President Ebrahim Raisi in the southwest city of Gachsaran.

President Raisi, who is on a visit to the southwest province of Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad as the latest leg of his provincial tours, said on Monday that the Gachsaran petrochemical plant, which was mostly constructed by Iranian specialists, manifests resistance in the face of [US-imposed] sanctions.

In the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Petroleum of the Islamic Republic of Iran Javad Owji said that over 83% of the project has been constructed by the local workforce and that the project helps save over 269 million euros.

In a bid to advance its macroeconomic aspirations, the company cooperated with 70 Iranian firms in terms of designing, building, and installing vital necessary equipment, he added.

The minister also explained that the national project will annually rely on 1.25 million metric tons of ethane gas via a 90-kilometer pipeline from Bidboland Gas Refinery located in the southwest city of Behbahan.
