Oil Ministry exceeded fuel storage obligations, deputy speaker says
RoydadNaft – The Oil Ministry exceeded its obligations on fuel storage, a deputy speaker of Parliament said, praising what he described as a responsible approach to ensuring winter energy security.
Ali Nikzad said the ministry not only delivered sufficient fuel to the Energy Ministry but also stored surplus volumes in designated tanks, calling the move “worthy of appreciation.”
Nikzad described the Oil Ministry’s performance in winter fuel supply as commendable. He said that before the start of winter, meetings were held with the head of parliament’s Energy Commission, other lawmakers, the oil minister and ministry officials. The outcome, he said, was an agreement to supply a specified monthly volume of diesel and, in emergency situations, to use mazut only in very limited amounts and with environmental considerations.
He added that the measures were reviewed every 15 days and that cooperation — particularly on fuel storage — continued. As a result, he said, the Oil Ministry delivered more fuel to the Energy Ministry than initially mandated, with the remainder stored in designated facilities.
Nikzad said a deputy oil minister for refining and distribution told lawmakers that 3.6 billion liters of fuel had been stored. In addition, about 600 million liters were stored beyond the forecast level, an action Nikzad said deserved thanks.
He emphasized that the Oil Ministry’s “responsibility and coordination” between parliament and the oil and energy ministries helped produce a positive outcome, and he thanked Oil Ministry officials and the head of parliament’s Energy Committee.
