Iran’s oil output slips slightly in December as OPEC production rises
RoydadNaft – Iran’s crude oil production edged down marginally in December 2025 even as overall output by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) increased, according to the group’s latest monthly report.
OPEC data showed Iran pumped 3.19 million barrels per day (bpd) in December, down about 1,000 bpd from November, while total OPEC production rose by 105,000 bpd to 28.56 million bpd.
Iran’s average crude output in 2025 stood at 3.26 million bpd, compared with 2.26 million bpd in 2024, the report said.
Saudi Arabia, producing 10.08 million bpd, and Iraq, with 4.12 million bpd, were OPEC’s largest producers in December.
Production by OPEC+ allies fell by 344,000 bpd month on month to 14.27 million bpd, with Kazakhstan accounting for the largest decline at 237,000 bpd.
Combined crude output by OPEC and its allies stood at 42.83 million bpd in December, down 238,000 bpd from November.
The price of Iran Heavy crude fell by $2.41 per barrel in December to $61.84, compared with $64.25 in November. The average price of Iran Heavy crude in 2025 was $69.50 per barrel.
The OPEC basket price averaged $61.74 per barrel in December, down $2.72 from the previous month.
OPEC also forecast global oil demand would rise by 1.34 million bpd in 2027, with total demand projected at 106.52 million bpd in 2026 and 107.86 million bpd in 2027.
