ADNOC Gas secures long-term $3bn LNG supply deal with HPCL

ADNOC Gas has signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for the supply of liquefied natural gas, in a deal valued at between $2.5 billion and $3 billion over a 10-year period.

RoydadNaft –  ADNOC Gas has signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement with Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) for the supply of liquefied natural gas, in a deal valued at between $2.5 billion and $3 billion over a 10-year period.

According to the press release, the agreement was announced during a state visit to India by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, underscoring the growing strategic energy partnership between the two countries.

The contract was formally exchanged by His Excellency Dr Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, and Vikas Kaushal, Chairman and Managing Director of HPCL.

Under the terms of the agreement, ADNOC Gas will supply 0.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) of LNG to HPCL. The deal converts a previously signed heads of agreement into a binding long-term contract and strengthens ADNOC Gas’ commercial footprint in India, now its largest LNG customer.

The LNG volumes will be supplied from ADNOC Gas’ Das Island liquefaction facility, which has a production capacity of up to 6 mtpa and is among the world’s longest-operating LNG plants. Since commencing operations, the facility has delivered more than 3,500 LNG cargoes globally, demonstrating a strong track record of operational reliability.

ADNOC Gas said the agreement supports India’s ambition to raise the share of natural gas in its energy mix to 15% by 2030, while reinforcing the company’s position as a trusted supplier to Asia’s fast-growing markets. By 2029, ADNOC Gas expects to be operating 15.6 mtpa of LNG capacity, with 3.2 mtpa contracted to Indian energy companies, including HPCL.

The contract brings the total value of LNG agreements supported and operated by ADNOC Gas to more than $20 billion. Over the past three years, the company has secured multiple long-term LNG contracts across Asia, reflecting its strategy to broaden its customer base and expand its presence in key growth markets.
