Power plant diesel reserves grow with 7-m-liter boost

The head of the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company said simultaneous efforts to boost production and manage consumption have increased diesel output by 7 million liters, leading to higher fuel reserves for power plants.

RoydadNaft –The head of the National Iranian Oil Products Refining and Distribution Company said simultaneous efforts to boost production and manage consumption have increased diesel output by 7 million liters, leading to higher fuel reserves for power plants.

Mohammad-Sadeq Azimifar, the company’s managing director, said measures to raise diesel storage levels during peak gas demand included expanding production through higher refinery feedstock, commissioning new units, and implementing quality-improvement projects. These efforts added an average of 4 million liters a day to refinery diesel output.

He added that curbing fuel smuggling and managing consumption in non-power sectors also contributed to the increase. “Since the beginning of this year, daily diesel consumption has decreased by about 3 million liters compared with last year,” Azimifar said.

The deputy oil minister said the combined 7-million-liter surplus has significantly enhanced the country’s diesel storage capacity for power generation.
