MoU signed on managing gas consumption
RoydadNaft – The National Petrochemical Company (NPC) and Zagros Petrochemical Company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to leverage Zagros Petrochemical’s resources in support of a campaign aimed at reducing household and commercial gas and electricity consumption by 10%.
Hassan Abbaszadeh, CEO of NPC, and Matin Didari, CEO of Zagros Petrochemical Company, signed the MoU on Saturday. The initiative seeks to promote energy efficiency and foster a culture of optimized consumption.
This agreement marks the first step toward implementing a broader memorandum of understanding signed on December 18 between NPC and the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC).
The earlier agreement focuses on engaging petrochemical companies to provide resources for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private investors participating in the 10% reduction campaign during the colder months as the goal is to encourage energy efficiency and reform consumption patterns.
Under the terms of the NPC and NIGC agreement, households that cut their gas consumption by 10% will receive a total of 4 trillion rials ($5 million) in rewards.
Meanwhile, petrochemical companies will provide the necessary financial backing for the program. The conserved gas will then be allocated to the production of high-value petrochemical products, ensuring stable output within the industry.
