{"id":8676,"date":"2023-11-13T13:43:31","date_gmt":"2023-11-13T13:43:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/?p=8676"},"modified":"2023-11-13T13:43:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-13T13:43:31","slug":"japans-mitsui-chemicals-adds-new-bio-petchem-products","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/8676\/","title":{"rendered":"Japan\u2019s Mitsui Chemicals adds new bio-petchem products"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"description\"><p><span class=\"pre-content-text\"><a style=\"color: #0038a8;\" href=\"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/\">RoydadNaft &#8211; <\/a><\/span>\u00a0Japanese petrochemical producer Mitsui Chemicals has obtained International Sustainability and Carbon Certification Plus (ISCC Plus) for its bio-naphtha-based toluene diisocyanate (TDI), allowing it to supply the new low-carbon products.<\/p>\n<p>Mitsui Chemicals said on 13 November that it has acquired the certificate in October, so it can manufacture TDI, a feedstock of polyurethane, by using biomass-based naphtha bought from Finland-based refiner Neste. TDI is Mitsui Chemicals&#8217; 38th petrochemical product with ISCC Plus certificates including ethylene, propylene, benzene, polypropylene compounds and\u00a0bisphenol A.<\/p>\n<p>The company decided to optimize TDI production by\u00a0reducing output capacity\u00a0at its Omuta plant from 120,000 t\/yr to 50,000 t\/yr by July 2025. It also halted TDI production at its 117,000 t\/yr Kashima plant in December 2016, citing increased competition and reduced profitability. Omuta is now the only site producing Mitsui Chemicals&#8217; TDI.<\/p>\n<p>Mitsui Chemicals has attempted to enhance production of environmentally-friendly goods by boosting bio-petrochemical goods production and developing new areas like\u00a0establishing ammonia and hydrogen supply chains, while\u00a0exploring electrification of naphtha cracking.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow Japnese petrochemical producers have also accelerated their decarbonization efforts.
