RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0The refineries of Iran\u2019s South Pars Gas Complex (SPGC) have supplied 9.550 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas to the country\u2019s network in the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 21-September 22), according to the SPGC managing director.<\/p>\n

Ahmad Bahoush put the complex\u2019s daily output at 570 million cubic meters, saying that the refineries of the SPGC account for more than 75 percent of the country’s gas production and supply, Shana reported.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe country\u2019s largest energy production center, in addition to gas production, also produces ethane, propane, butane, gas condensate, and sulfur and plays an important role in the country’s economy,\u201d the official stated.<\/p>\n

He further noted that SPGC refineries managed to produce 124,969,473 barrels of gas condensate in the mentioned six months.<\/p>\n

According to Bahoush, the overhaul operations of the SPGC refineries have also been carried out in the said six months, and only in the fifth refinery, the overhaul operation started on October 3 and will be completed by October 16, according to the schedule.<\/p>\n

The huge South Pars gas field, which Iran shares with Qatar in the Persian Gulf, is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the world\u2019s reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.<\/p>\n

South Pars field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran\u2019s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf; The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, called North Dome, are situated in Qatar\u2019s territorial waters.<\/p>\n

SPGC operates 13 refineries that process the natural gas extracted from the field.<\/p>\n
