{"id":6122,"date":"2023-06-20T12:58:42","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T12:58:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/?p=6122"},"modified":"2023-06-20T13:00:35","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T13:00:35","slug":"iran-becomes-worlds-3rd-largest-energy-subsidizer-report-shows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/6122\/","title":{"rendered":"Iran becomes world&#8217;s 3rd largest energy subsidizer, report shows"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"description\">\n<p>Iran is the third-largest worldwide provider of subsidies for energy consumption, according to a new report by the World Bank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Monday report by the Roydad Naft News Agency cited figures from the World Bank&#8217;s newly-released report, which has been compiled based on statistics from 2020, showing that the Iranian government had disbursed $41.72 billion in energy subsidies to its citizens in that year, trailing only behind Russia and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Electricity received the largest share of the subsidy payments provided by the Iranian government in 2020, at some $26.51 billion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An additional $15.21 billion was allocated to gasoline and other oil products in that year, and $10.44 billion to consumer subsidies for diesel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In total, five countries; Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, India and Venezuela, accounted for nearly half of the world\u2019s total energy subsidies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They collectively allocated $211 billion in subsidies for fuel consumption to their citizens, equivalent to almost half of the world&#8217;s explicit subsidies.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-date no-social-btn post-updated\">Updated on<time class=\"updated dt-updated\" itemprop=\"dateModified\" datetime=\"2023-06-20T13:00:35+00:00\"> 20 June 2023<\/time><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Iran is the third-largest worldwide provider of subsidies for energy consumption, according to a new report by the World Bank.
