an energy \u200econsortium comprising the two countries\u2019 companies to improve production from \u200etheir oil and gas resources, said an adviser to the Iranian oil minister.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hossein Shameli, the Iranian oil minister\u2019s special adviser and assistant for \u200einternational and trade affairs, made the remarks in an address to the opening \u200eceremony of the first business-to-business (B2B) meetings between Iranian and \u200eRussian oil and gas companies here in Tehran on Tuesday. \u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stressed that Iran and Russia play a \u201cfundamental\u201d role in meeting the world\u2019s \u200eenergy needs, adding the two countries\u2019 cooperation can be of contribution to the \u200esustainability of the global energy supply.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shameli noted, \u201cWe maintain that the bilateral use of [modern] technologies will \u200eplay a key role in the development of and production from the two countries\u2019 \u200eresources.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He emphasized that the two countries\u2019 private sectors can play a significant role in \u200epreparing the ground for the exchange of experiences in the fields of educating \u200ehuman resources and creating new financial mechanisms for accelerating and \u200efacilitating expansion of the bilateral relations, which are all very \u201cessential\u201d for the \u200edevelopment and completion of the two states\u2019 energy chains. \u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shameli added economic development will be among the outcomes of such \u200ecooperation, saying the two countries can, within a \u201cdynamic and effective\u201d \u200estructure, enhance their cooperation in the energy sector and move toward ensuring \u200eenergy supply sustainability and their own economic growth. \u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said the exchange of technical and engineering services between the two \u200ecountries with the active presence of their technology-based companies can be \u200efurther promoted, for which Iran and Russia are required to place on their agenda \u200esharing the required technologies. \u200eShameli voiced the Iranian Oil Ministry\u2019s readiness to support the two countries\u2019 \u200epublic and private companies and follow up on the implementation of the bilateral \u200ecooperation policies until the achievement of the desired results. \u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He described the prospects of the Iran-Russia cooperation as \u201clong-term and \u200elasting.\u201d\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Shameli said the B2B meetings have provided the two countries with a \u201cfavorable\u201d \u200eopportunity to consult and expand cooperation among their knowledge-based \u200efirms in the energy field, as the first step toward fostering collaborations between \u200etheir private sectors. \u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also proposed that an investment fund would be established by the two \u200ecountries for financing joint oil and gas projects.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak arrived in Iran on Tuesday on a \u200etwo-day visit at the \u200ehead of a high-ranking delegation for talks with Iranian \u200eofficials.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Novak is expected to meet Iran\u2019s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, Oil \u200eMinister Javad Owji and \u200eCentral Bank Governor Mohammad-Reza Farzin. \u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He will also attend the opening ceremony of the 27th Iran International Oil, Gas, \u200eRefining and \u200ePetrochemical Exhibition (Iran Oil Show 2023), and visit a number \u200eof leading Iranian \u200ecompanies.\u200e<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cooperation in the energy sector will be among the Russian deputy PM\u2019s \u200ediscussions with Iranian officials.<\/p>\n<div
