{"id":5369,"date":"2023-05-14T11:40:19","date_gmt":"2023-05-14T11:40:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/?p=5369"},"modified":"2023-05-14T11:41:18","modified_gmt":"2023-05-14T11:41:18","slug":"mp-owjis-iraq-visit-shows-govt-will-to-promote-energy-diplomacy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/5369\/","title":{"rendered":"MP: Owji\u2019s Iraq visit shows govt. will to promote energy diplomacy"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"description\">\n<p>An Iranian lawmaker on Saturday said the visit Oil Minister Javad Owji paid to Iraq signals the government\u2019s determination to develop energy diplomacy in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In his talks, Hossein Hosseinzadeh, a member of the Parliament\u2019s Energy Committee, pointed to a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed during Owji\u2019s stay in Iraq and added energy diplomacy has been bolstered under the 13th (Raeisi) administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oil and gas transit is of strategic importance and requires greater attention, as it fetches the country hard currency, underlined the parliamentarian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Tehran-Baghdad cooperation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owji and his Iraqi counterpart Hayan Abdel-Ghani signed an MoU in Baghdad on Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Based on the memorandum inked in the presence of Iraq\u2019s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, the two sides agreed to cooperate in oil, gas, and petrochemical projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owji and Sudani put emphasis on the expansion of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, urging Iran-Iraq Joint Working Group to follow up the implementation of the recent memorandum through holding regular sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Iraqi prime minister brought forward proposals to develop joint fields, train human resources, and implement petrochemical projects, which were welcomed by the visiting Iranian oil minister.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Gas exports<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owji said Tehran and Baghdad have agreed to extend the contracts on Iran\u2019s gas exports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He added the two deals on exporting Iran\u2019s gas to Baghdad and Basra power plants will be extended for the next five years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Owji made the remarks in his talks with reporters following a meeting with Iraqi Minister of Electricity Ziad Ali Fadel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The minister said the Iranian and Iraqi experts solved the problems, describing the agreement as one of the achievements of his visit to Iraq.<\/p>\n<div class=\"post-date no-social-btn post-updated\">Updated on<time class=\"updated dt-updated\" itemprop=\"dateModified\" datetime=\"2023-05-14T11:41:18+00:00\"> 14 May 2023<\/time><\/div><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An Iranian lawmaker on Saturday said the visit Oil Minister Javad Owji paid to Iraq signals the government\u2019s determination to develop energy diplomacy in the region.
