{"id":4559,"date":"2023-03-29T12:09:07","date_gmt":"2023-03-29T12:09:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/?p=4559"},"modified":"2023-03-29T12:09:08","modified_gmt":"2023-03-29T12:09:08","slug":"qatar-takes-stakes-in-two-exxon-oil-and-gas-projects-offshore-canada","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/4559\/","title":{"rendered":"Qatar takes stakes in two Exxon oil and gas projects offshore Canada"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"description\">\n<p>QatarEnergy said on Wednesday it signed a deal for stakes in two of ExxonMobil&#8217;s\u00a0(XOM.N)\u00a0offshore explorations in Canada as the Qatari state-owned firm builds up its global energy portfolio.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Qatari company first entered offshore exploration in Canada in 2021 with a 40% stake in ExxonMobil&#8217;s licence for EL 1165A off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The latest farm-in agreement announced on Wednesday gives QatarEnergy a 28% interest in licence EL 1167, with ExxonMobil Canada holding 50% and Cenovus Energy\u00a0(CVE.TO)22%, as well as 40% in licence EL 1162, with ExxonMobil Canada holding 60%.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We are pleased to sign this agreement with our strategic partner, ExxonMobil, to further grow our offshore Atlantic Canada portfolio as part of our international growth drive,&#8221; QatarEnergy CEO Saad Al-Kaabi said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The company has in recent years expanded internationally, gaining stakes in oil and gas projects around the world by signing deals with major energy companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Qatar is already one of the world&#8217;s largest liquefied natural gas suppliers and aims to expand production to 126 million tonnes annually by 2027 from 77 million tonnes under its two-phase North Field expansion project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>QatarEnergy last year signed five deals with international majors for the North Field project &#8212; ExxonMobil, TotalEnergies , ConocoPhillips\u00a0(COP.N), ENI\u00a0(ENI.MI)\u00a0and Shell\u00a0(SHEL.L).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the Middle East, QatarEnergy has joined TotalEnergies and Eni in a\u00a0consortium\u00a0to explore oil and gas in two maritime blocks off Lebanon.
