{"id":3253,"date":"2023-01-24T15:15:42","date_gmt":"2023-01-24T15:15:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/?p=3253"},"modified":"2023-01-24T15:15:46","modified_gmt":"2023-01-24T15:15:46","slug":"us-looking-to-pressure-china-into-foregoing-iran-oil-imports","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/3253\/","title":{"rendered":"US looking to pressure China into foregoing Iran oil imports"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"description\">\n<p>The US Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley said the Biden administration will increase pressure on China to cease imports of Iranian oil as the US tries to enforce nuclear sanctions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cChina is the main destination of illicit exports by Iran,\u201d and talks to dissuade Beijing from the purchases are \u201cgoing to be intensified,\u201d Malley said in a Bloomberg Television interview Monday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The US will \u201ctake steps that we need to take in order to stop the export of Iranian oil and deter countries from buying it,\u201d Malley added. \u201cWe have not lessened any of our sanctions against Iran and in particular regards to Iran\u2019s sale of oil.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Former US President Donald Trump left the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in May 2018 and reimposed the anti-Iran sanctions that the deal had lifted. Tehran&#8217;s oil exports have been limited since then.
