Greetings to the hardworking, cultured people of Behdeh. Greetings to you, unassuming men and women, spirited young people, and honored elders who today have given your hearts to the identity, history, and roots of this land. Greetings to the worn hands that once made mirrors and tools from water, earth, and fire, and to the warm chests that kept the flame of love for this soil alive, generation after generation.

These days, from far away, beyond the borders and in the corner of a burning exile, my eyes are fixed on my birthplace and the land of my ancestors, and my heart, my spirit, and all of me beat in the warm, familiar alleys of Behdeh — a place whose people have made an epic of love, solidarity, and loyalty to their roots.

When I heard the news of the Charu festival and the firing of the pottery kilns, a lump of pride and longing caught in my throat.

Charu is not only a fire kiln where clay vessels are baked. Charu is the story of your fathers’ struggle for honest bread, the story of solidarity and of native, ancestral knowledge that, in the heavy heat of the kiln, made vessels of resistance and endurance. If pottery, and the baking of jugs, pitchers, and hookah bases, was once the livelihood of this village, today it is the cipher of your culture and collective solidarity. Today you proved that the kiln fire has not gone out. It has risen from the ashes of time and become a burning torch in each of your hands, so the name of Behdeh can resound in Iran and on world stages, including UNESCO.

Charu is not only the baking of a few clay vessels in the heart of the fire. Charu is the sound of the warm breaths of the hardworking fathers of that land, a reminder of the callused, affectionate hands of master craftsmen who, with the sweat of their brows, made honest bread and dignity from earth, water, and fire.

Exile, for all its distance, has never been able to extinguish the memory of those days in my heart. But today the caring, culture-loving men and women of Behdeh have done something so the kiln fire warms not only the pottery but the hearts of those of us far away. I am glad to see what eagerness and what beautiful solidarity is alive in the village — women and men, old and young, and innocent children looking at this rite with eyes full of wonder.

This great movement reminded all of us, and the whole world, that for the elders it recalls the most honorable nostalgia and a hard but love-filled struggle of the past, and for the young it is a lasting image and a rooted identity that will be carved in the corner of their minds forever. This general mobilization and collective fervor proved that the standing and shine of a place is not measured by its geography, but by the size of the will, creativity, and love of its people — people who care about the progress of their community and have given their hearts to keeping the name of their land alive.

From here, thousands of miles away, I kiss the hand of each of you and bow before your high effort, and I kiss the worn, blessed hands of the pottery elders who kept the lamp of this ancient art lit. I thank the founders, elites, and cultured young people of Behdeh who, with intelligence and judgment, recalled this old tradition in our minds and turned it into a lasting festival, so that one day the name of Behdeh and the Charu rite may shine as a world symbol at UNESCO.

This effort deserves praise and is proof that our traditions will never die. They wait for warm hands and creative minds to draw them out of the ashes of time and offer them to the world in the most beautiful form.

May the step of the people of Behdeh on this path be blessed, and may the cultural future of this region be bright. I sincerely thank all those involved and the villagers who took part with heart and soul. Although my body is thousands of miles from you today, my spirit stands beside the fiery Charu kiln and looks at my kin with pride and warmth.

With this collective work and this sacred eagerness to raise the name of Behdeh, you proved to us that roots never die.

The Charu fire will stay lit, because your love for Behdeh is lit.

May your name be high, your effort firm, and your dear land of Behdeh proud forever.

Abdolrahman Esmaeil Al-Khalfani (Dezhen)

Amsterdam — October 9, 2026

Abdolrahman Esmaeil Al-Khalfani (Dezhen), writing from Amsterdam, thanked the people of Behdeh village in Parsian County, Hormozgan, for holding the ancient Charu rite and lighting the pottery kilns, and called the event a symbol of love, solidarity, and the living cultural identity of southern Iran.
[47,24,22,36
["post-19122","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-breaking-news","category-education","category-iran","category-lastnews
["GET
