RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0The manager of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company\u2019s Golestan region said several scenarios have been written for a possible natural-gas shortage and that provincial LPG storage, as a backup fuel, has been raised to 700 tons.<\/p>\n

According to Roydad Naft, Seyyed Mohammad Hosseini told reporters that, given current conditions and the need to prepare for a possible fuel crisis, the provincial fuel committee has met continuously for about the past three months, led by the governor and with the relevant agencies present.<\/p>\n

During a break in fuel deliveries to Golestan, coordination, tanker dispatches, and technical measures kept supply from being interrupted, and no station closed because of the pause, he said.<\/p>\n

Fuel storage at the Aliabad-e Katul power plant has reached 54 million liters and stocks at the provincial cement plant 8.3 million liters, so there is no problem on that front for now.<\/p>\n

A main part of planning for possible gas limits is more storage and the ability to use substitute fuels. Provincial LPG storage has been raised to about 700 tons, and rural sales outlets are being filled, Hosseini said.<\/p>\n

Kerosene stocks are also being completed, and shared tank capacity should reach the planned level in the coming days.<\/p>\n

On the Golestan governor\u2019s order, fitting 2,700 bakeries with a second fuel is on the agenda, and several meetings have been held to put the needed infrastructure in place.<\/p>\n

Steps include storage capacity at bakeries, wider use of multiple fuels including LPG, and drills to raise readiness.<\/p>\n

The provincial gas company is to supply 4,000 LPG cylinders to bakeries at the subsidized rate, and that process is under way, he said.<\/p>\n

About 85% of hospital fuel-tank capacity in the province is full, and filling tanks at other medical centers is a priority.<\/p>\n

Twenty-two specialist meetings have been held with executive and supervisory agencies and consumer groups. Fuel for agriculture, processing plants, greenhouses, livestock and poultry, and industrial units has been reviewed.<\/p>\n

To support distribution, 127 Nissan pickup trucks have been identified and registered so they can be used if needed.<\/p>\n

About 13% of Golestan\u2019s gas use is in agriculture. Data on 1,000 poultry farms and 497 greenhouses are being reviewed and completed, Hosseini said.<\/p>\n

Gasoline demand must be managed alongside supply and storage, he said.
