U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil futures also rose 45 cents, or 0.5%, to $90.09 per barrel.

According to Roydad Naft, citing Reuters, oil prices were steady on Thursday as a recovery in crude oil exports from the Persian Gulf and an unexpected increase in U.S. crude inventories eased concerns about supply, while investors assessed renewed U.S.-Iran diplomatic efforts to end the conflict in the Middle East.

Brent crude oil futures were up 0.6% at $98.67 per barrel by 7:04 a.m. GMT, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude was trading 0.5% higher at $90.09 per barrel.

Prices fluctuated during Thursday’s trading session, with both benchmarks falling more than 1% before recovering part of their losses later in the session.

Brent crude prices rose about 14% in September, marking their biggest monthly gain since July. West Texas Intermediate crude prices also gained about 5% during the month.

Saugandha Sachdeva, founder of research firm SS WealthStreet in New Delhi, said: “The short-term outlook for oil remains bearish, as the recovery in oil shipments from the Persian Gulf, the resumption of Saudi exports through Yanbu, and an increase in U.S. oil inventories have eased concerns about supply.”

Reuters reported on Tuesday that Saudi Arabia had resumed loading oil tankers at the port of Yanbu, following the earlier resumption of operations on the country’s East-West pipeline.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Energy Information Administration said U.S. crude oil inventories rose by 922,000 barrels to 427.3 million barrels in the week ended September 25. The bank said in a note on Tuesday that Persian Gulf oil exports had doubled in September.

Two sources familiar with the matter also told Reuters that OPEC+ oil-producing countries are likely to keep their November oil production targets unchanged at Sunday’s meeting.

Brent crude oil futures rose 59 cents, or 0.6%, to $98.67 per barrel.
