Officials are working to remove obstacles, secure needed infrastructure, and coordinate with the free zone so the complex can move into construction and start operations.<\/p>\n<p>The province\u2019s goal is a practical settlement of the project and the conditions to begin work, he said. Follow-up with provincial and national agencies will continue.<\/p>\n<p>Golestan Petrochemical was launched in 2006 to build a complex in the east of the province with annual capacity of 1.5 million tons of ammonia and urea. It was expected to create thousands of direct and indirect jobs, complete the downstream value chain, raise exports, and boost Golestan\u2019s economy.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years the project left its original path because of financing problems, legal disputes, changes in shareholder structure, and unfulfilled commitments.
