RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0The acting head of Ilam Gas Refining Company said the plant\u2019s gas production rose 7.5% from the beginning of September 2024 through the end of August 2026, reaching 1.665 billion cubic meters.<\/p>\n

According to Roydad Naft, Masoud Morshedi told reporters on Thursday that output in the comparable earlier period was 1.549 billion cubic meters.<\/p>\n

He said higher production, together with development projects and the optimization and modernization of equipment, has been a core focus of the refinery\u2019s program during this period.<\/p>\n

Nineteen major projects covering production reliability, power and instrumentation, energy, the environment, safety, and maintenance have been defined and implemented over the past two years, he said. Five of those projects have been commissioned, and the remainder are proceeding on schedule.<\/p>\n

The upgrade, retrofit, and optimization of the 63\/20 kV substation equipment is now 95% complete. The project is intended to strengthen power-grid stability and raise the reliability of electrical systems.<\/p>\n

Construction of a heat-recovery steam generator (HRSG) at the power plant is under way to cut fuel use and improve energy performance. Once operational, the unit is expected to save about 20 million cubic meters of fuel a year. Other expected results include lower greenhouse-gas emissions, an 18% reduction in the fuel-consumption index, and a 55-ton-per-hour increase in steam capacity. The HRSG project is currently 25% complete.<\/p>\n

A flare-gas recovery system (FGRS) has cut gas sent to flare by about 150,000 cubic meters a day. In addition to reducing flaring, the project enables recovered gas to be sold. The FGRS project is 75% complete.<\/p>\n

The project to correct defects and carry out a major overhaul of the Offgas-K-1100 compressor is about 96% complete.<\/p>\n

Morshedi also reported work on the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of a fire detection and suppression system for a cylindrical tank, aimed at raising safety standards and improving tank fire-protection systems.<\/p>\n

Five company projects have reached 100% completion, including the upgrade of two 30-ton low-pressure (LP) boilers, completion of the PSA nitrogen shelter, construction of alternative route No. 61 of the 63 kV transmission line, procurement for that line, and the third phase of reinforced-concrete work in the sulfur-unloading area.<\/p>\n

Construction and commissioning of three cooling units for the air-unit compressors is 96% complete. Fabrication of a coil-wound heat exchanger (CWHE) is also under way.<\/p>\n

The design and construction of an air cooler for the ethane-recovery unit\u2019s propane cycle is 5% complete. Design and construction of two plate heat exchangers for the sweetening unit is 80% complete. Reverse engineering and manufacture of amine charge pumps for both sweetening units is 15% complete, and reverse engineering and manufacture of the amine-pump casings is 50% complete.<\/p>\n

An emergency shutdown (ESD) system upgrade, intended to improve the reliability of industrial networks and control systems, has reached 90% completion.<\/p>\n

Morshedi said the projects are focused on production stability, lower emissions, energy optimization, higher safety, and greater equipment reliability. Their economic and operational impact is expected to appear in lower production costs and higher refinery efficiency.<\/p>\n

He also said output of four of the Ilam gas refinery\u2019s five products increased in the first two years of the 14th government. Over that period, natural gas production rose 7.5%, ethane 0.22%, raw LPG 4.7%, and sulfur 6.5%.<\/p>\n

The Ilam gas refinery was built in the late 1990s to supply natural gas to the province, boost pressure on the national pipeline in western Iran, and provide feedstock to Ilam Petrochemical.
