RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0Seyed Esmaeil Hosseini, the member of parliament for Shiraz and Zarqan, said continued gas discoveries in southern Fars have put the province on the verge of becoming Iran\u2019s newest gas hub.<\/p>\n

According to Roydad Naft, Hosseini pointed to the extensive gas potential of southern Fars Province and said the region is a reliable backbone for the country\u2019s onshore gas fields, with a substantial share of the province\u2019s gas resources located there.<\/p>\n

The Dalan, Aghar, Sefid Zakhur, Sefid Baghun, Pazan, Eram, Day, Homa, Shanul, Varavi, Tabnak, Halegan, Gardan, and other gas fields are all in southern Fars, he said. In addition to gas, millions of barrels of gas condensate are produced from these fields, carrying high economic value.<\/p>\n

Exploration capacity in southern Fars should be put to greater use<\/p>\n

A member of the Energy Commission of Iran\u2019s parliament, Hosseini cited the discovery of the Pazan field last year and the Takhtah field this year as evidence of the high potential of gas exploration zones in southern Fars. These finds show that significant resources exist in the area and should be developed with proper planning and investment.<\/p>\n

Exploration studies and operations in these areas should continue vigorously, he said, because as Fars Province\u2019s share of Iran\u2019s oil and gas fields increases, so will its share of the budget allocated to oil- and gas-producing regions.<\/p>\n

Greater exploration and development of gas fields would not only support production and feedstock supply for petrochemical plants and domestic consumption, he added, but would also make it possible to plan exports of gas and related products to neighboring countries.<\/p>\n

Gas field development as a driver of jobs and industry in Fars<\/p>\n

Developing each oil and gas field in Fars strengthens officials\u2019 bargaining power in the budget process, the Shiraz and Zarqan lawmaker said. It can also create jobs and boost the economy in exploration areas and surrounding communities.<\/p>\n

If the province\u2019s gas potential is properly planned, Fars industries will also be able to benefit more from the output and capacity that is created, he emphasized.<\/p>\n

7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas discovered in southern Fars<\/p>\n

Referring to the latest announced discovery in southern Fars, Hosseini said Iran\u2019s oil minister reported on August 23, 2026, the discovery of more than 7.5 trillion cubic feet of gas in the south of the province.<\/p>\n
