RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0Brent crude futures climbed 17 cents (0.24%) to settle at $72.10 per barrel. U.S. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures rose 14 cents (0.20%) to $68.83 per barrel.<\/p>\n

Oil prices posted modest gains on Friday as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of the extended U.S. Independence Day weekend. While there was some optimism around ongoing Middle East peace efforts, lingering concerns about the durability of any agreements kept the upside in check.<\/p>\n

Brent settled 17 cents (0.24%) higher at $72.10 a barrel.<\/p>\n

WTI rose 14 cents (0.20%) to $68.83 a barrel.<\/p>\n

In the previous trading session, both benchmarks had touched their lowest levels since before the outbreak of U.S.-Israel hostilities with Iran in late February. On a weekly basis, Brent closed virtually flat (down 0.02%), while WTI posted a marginal 0.12% gain \u2014 marking one of the quietest weeks in recent months.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is cautious optimism,\u201d said Tim Waterer, senior market analyst at KCM Trade. \u201cThe market wants to believe the peace efforts will hold, but it will keep its guard up until it sees tangible evidence on the ground.\u201d<\/p>\n

Several countries are gradually ramping up output with the partial reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, which prior to the conflict carried around one-fifth of daily global oil and natural gas liquids supply. Kuwait sharply increased production to 1.65 million barrels per day in June, and at least five Saudi supertankers carrying around 10 million barrels of crude have already exited the strait.<\/p>\n

Markets continue to watch for concrete signs of a full resumption of flows and their eventual impact on inventories. U.S. markets are closed today for the Independence Day holiday, with trading volumes expected to remain light.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
