RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0Germany-based Siemens Energy has secured a contract to supply power generation equipment and long-term service agreements for the Misfah and Duqm Independent Power Producer projects in Oman.<\/p>\n

The projects will add 2.6 gigawatts of capacity, raising the country’s electricity supply by nearly 20%, Siemens Energy said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The scope covers six F-class gas turbines, six generators, and 20-year service agreements for the combined-cycle facilities, which are expected to supply electricity to more than two million people.<\/p>\n

Siemens Energy will manufacture the SGT5-4000F gas turbines in Berlin and the SGen5-2000P generators in Muelheim, Germany.<\/p>\n

Misfah is located in Muscat Governorate, whilst Duqm sits in the Special Economic Zone at Duqm in Al Wusta Governorate.<\/p>\n

A consortium comprising Etihad Water and Electricity Company PJSC, Nebras Power Investment Management B.V., Bahwan Infrastructure Services LLC, and Korea Western Power Co. is developing the projects.<\/p>\n

Doosan Enerbility and SEPCO-3 handle engineering, procurement, and construction, whilst Nama Power and Water Procurement Company is the offtaker.<\/p>\n

Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals Salim Al Aufi said the projects will strengthen the country’s electricity system and support long-term energy planning.<\/p>\n

The gas turbines are designed with hydrogen co-firing capability, giving Oman flexibility in future fuel use, Al Aufi said.<\/p>\n

“This collaboration will further set the foundation for a lower-carbon power system, enhance energy security, and support the goals of Oman Vision 2040,” he said.<\/p>\n

Karim Amin, a member of Siemens Energy’s executive board, said the projects reflect rising demand for flexible power as Oman expands its industrial base and electricity infrastructure.<\/p>\n

The system will support grid stability and enable greater integration of renewable energy, Amin said.<\/p>\n
