If an agreement is reached, it will pave the way for a tripartite contract to guarantee the electricity supply for the petrochemical sector.

In the wake of recent damage inflicted upon the power generation facilities of the country’s petrochemical industries, the Ministry of Energy has launched intensive operations to prevent production drops and secure the energy required by these complexes. To this end, Mostafa Rajabi Mashhadi, the Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity and Energy, traveled to Turkey to hold talks and assess the conditions for electricity imports.

According to the Government Official News Website (PAD), the Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity and Energy detailed the mission prior to his departure for Turkey, stating: “In line with the Ministry of Energy’s initiatives to compensate for the electricity deficit facing damaged petrochemical industries, preliminary planning has been carried out so that, upon agreement, we can secure the necessary power for these plants through imports from Turkey, with the participation of the private sector.”

Highlighting the existing technical infrastructure between the two nations, he added: “Fortunately, we possess a highly advanced Back-to-Back (B2B) substation at the border, and the transmission of 450 megawatts of electricity via the ‘Khoy – Van’ transmission line is a primary agenda item in these negotiations.”

Rajabi Mashhadi emphasized that the project is still in its initial phases and no contract has been finalized yet, clarifying: “The primary objective of this visit is to conduct preliminary talks and agree on the pricing of the electricity. Should the parties reach a definitive agreement, a tripartite contract will be signed between the Ministry of Energy, Iran’s petrochemical industries, and the Turkish side, with the cooperation of an intermediary private company, to operationalize the power transmission process.”

Updated on 3 July 2026

Following the damage sustained by petrochemical power plants during the war and the Ministry of Energy’s ongoing efforts to resolve the energy deficit in this sector, Iran’s Deputy Minister of Energy for Electricity and Energy has departed for Turkey to initiate preliminary negotiations and consultations regarding electricity imports.
[47,22,36,19,21,35
["post-17444","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-breaking-news","category-iran","category-lastnews","category-news","category-petrochemical","category-topnews
["GET
