RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0Following the ceasefire and the end of the war, natural gas prices have fallen by 20 percent since last night.<\/p>\n

According to Roydad Naft, natural gas prices plunged about 20 percent on Wednesday, reaching their lowest level since the war began in late February. The New York natural gas benchmark (Henry Hub) dropped to around $2.77 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), the lowest since August 2025.<\/p>\n

This sharp decline came after U.S. President Donald Trump announced a two-week ceasefire between the United States and Iran. Trump stated on Tuesday that Iran had agreed to ensure safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz for two weeks.<\/p>\n

Simultaneous Drop in Oil and Refined Product Prices<\/p>\n

Along with the fall in natural gas prices, crude oil prices also dropped more than 16 percent, falling below $94 per barrel. Wholesale gasoline and heating oil prices declined as well.<\/p>\n

However, oil prices are still more than 70 percent higher than at the beginning of this year. Gasoline prices at U.S. pumps remain at $4.14 per gallon.<\/p>\n

Seasonal Weak Demand<\/p>\n

In addition to the ceasefire, seasonal factors have contributed to the drop in natural gas prices. With the end of the cold season in the Northern Hemisphere, heating demand has fallen sharply, and the market has entered its low-demand period.<\/p>\n

Forecasts indicate that temperatures will remain mostly above seasonal averages until April 22, putting further pressure on prices. U.S. natural gas production has also decreased by 3 billion cubic feet per day, reaching its lowest level in the past two weeks.<\/p>\n

Downward Trend Expected to Continue<\/p>\n

Analysts believe that with the end of the peak demand season and continued high supply from the United States, Qatar, and Australia, natural gas prices will maintain their downward trend in the short term. The $2.78 level is seen as a key support, and some analysts consider a drop toward $2 possible.<\/p>\n

However, if the ceasefire is not extended and tensions return, prices could surge again. European gas storage levels stand at 28 percent, significantly below the five-year average of 41 percent.<\/p>\n
