{"id":16565,"date":"2026-01-03T11:28:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T11:28:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/?p=16565"},"modified":"2026-01-03T11:28:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T11:28:14","slug":"new-gecf-secretary-general-takes-office","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/16565\/","title":{"rendered":"New GECF secretary-general takes office"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"entry-content\" itemprop=\"description\"><p><span class=\"pre-content-text\"><a style=\"color: #0038a8;\" href=\"https:\/\/roydadnaft.ir\/English\/\">RoydadNaft &#8211; <\/a><\/span>\u00a0Philip Mshelbila of Nigeria officially assumed his duties as secretary-general of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum on Jan. 1, succeeding Algeria\u2019s Mohamed Hamel, who completed his four-year term.<\/p>\n<div class=\"item-body\">\n<div class=\"item-text\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\">The forum\u2019s secretariat came under new leadership on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Mshelbila was unanimously elected as the GECF\u2019s fifth secretary-general at the forum\u2019s 27th ministerial meeting on Oct. 23. He is now responsible for overseeing the secretariat and advancing the organization\u2019s broad policy agenda.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Born Jan. 2, 1967, in Garikida, Nigeria, Mshelbila replaces Hamel, who served as secretary-general from 2022 through the end of 2025. With the start of Mshelbila\u2019s term, Hamel\u2019s tenure at the helm of the GECF has concluded.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Since its establishment, the Gas Exporting Countries Forum has had five secretary-generals.
