RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0Iran\u2019s oil minister said Wednesday that the snapback mechanism would not create new obstacles to crude oil sales, stressing that the government has plans in place should challenges arise.<\/p>\n

\u201cSnapback does not impose any new direct restrictions on oil sales,\u201d Oil Minister Mohsen Paknejad told reporters on the sidelines of a Cabinet meeting. \u201cIf we face circumstances that require action, we are prepared.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasized that Iran\u2019s oil sales team consists of \u201cthe most professional individuals,\u201d particularly in countering and neutralizing sanctions. \u201cWe are not very worried, and our people should not be worried either,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Paknejad added that any restrictions under snapback would mainly target financial, commercial and maritime transport conditions, not crude sales themselves. \u201cIf snapback is activated, some difficulties may arise, but we have measures ready,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n

Gas supply imbalance a legacy of three decades<\/strong><\/p>\n

Addressing winter gas shortages, Paknejad said the imbalance in supply and demand is the result of three decades of insufficient investment and energy management. \u201cThis is not a product of one or two years,\u201d he said. \u201cWe are now accelerating measures with the cooperation of relevant agencies.\u201d<\/p>\n

He acknowledged that with rising household and commercial demand in winter, the country cannot fully meet consumption needs with natural gas alone. \u201cWe compensate with alternative fuels,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On power plants, the minister said Iran uses a fuel basket of natural gas, diesel and fuel oil. \u201cWhen gas supply to power plants is reduced, they turn to diesel reserves,\u201d he said. \u201cThis year, diesel stocks for power plants have increased more than 80% compared with the same time last year, so we expect to get through winter with minimal challenges.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n

Premium gasoline imports accelerating<\/p>\n

\n

Paknejad said imports of premium gasoline have sped up after currency allocation issues were resolved. \u201cWe will soon see premium gasoline available in major cities,\u201d he said. Pricing will be set by private importers, who add transportation, distribution and profit margins.<\/p>\n

\n

Babak Zanjani debt settlement<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

On the long-running case of businessman Babak Zanjani, Paknejad said part of his debt to the Oil Ministry was settled years ago through assets transferred to the ministry, while other portions are still in the process of settlement. \u201cWe will comply with whatever the judiciary determines as the final ruling,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\n

Fuel for agriculture<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

The minister also noted that fuel supply for agricultural machinery is aligned with regional crop patterns and quotas are being met. \u201cThe National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company implements these allocations, and the same method will continue,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
