RoydadNaft – <\/a><\/span>\u00a0The deputy CEO of the National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) announced a comprehensive plan to modernize its drilling fleet, localize equipment production, develop a national drilling engine, and repair and complete 150 oil wells by year\u2019s end (March 20, 2026).<\/p>\n

Masoud Afshar emphasized that the company, backed by decades of experience, is prepared to play a stronger regional role.<\/p>\n

Afshar discussed the company\u2019s fleet modernization efforts, stating that it has leveraged its expertise to implement a full-scale renovation plan. A key strategic move includes replacing outdated DC rigs with 15 new AC-powered drilling rigs. Two of these rigs, with 3,000-horsepower capacity, are designed for deep and geologically complex drilling, featuring advanced technology and suitability for directional drilling.<\/p>\n

Regarding well repair and completion, Afshar said the company repaired 100 wells last year and is currently 10 wells ahead of last year\u2019s pace. He projected a record 150 wells by year\u2019s end.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Continuous workforce training<\/strong><\/p>\n

Afshar highlighted the company\u2019s ongoing training programs, noting its dedicated training center, which regularly holds specialized courses. Additionally, 270 new trainees are undergoing technical training to join the operational fleet.<\/p>\n

\n

\u00a0Localization of equipment<\/strong><\/p>\n

Over 75% of drilling rig components are now domestically produced, including critical parts like mud pumps, electrical systems, SCR units, cables, tanks and mixer equipment, sourced from local and knowledge-based firms.<\/p>\n

Also, a contract has been signed with a domestic company to produce nine national drilling engines, with the first engine set to debut before year\u2019s end.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Overcoming sanctions through domestic capabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Afshar acknowledged challenges posed by sanctions but noted progress in reducing foreign dependence, particularly in engine production. Successful domestic manufacturing of SCR systems, cables and tanks has bolstered self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n

The company has also implemented waste management systems on rigs to recycle drilling mud, cuttings and water, along with site cleanup post-operations. Noise and emission control measures are also underway.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Future outlook<\/strong><\/p>\n

Afshar said the company aims to maintain its position as Iran\u2019s top drilling firm and a preferred contractor. With experts engaged in international projects\u2014including a successful operation in Turkmenistan\u2014the company is poised to expand in neighboring markets.<\/p>\n

He stressed that through technological advancement, equipment self-sufficiency and a skilled workforce, National Drilling is firmly on a sustainable development path and ready to take on a greater regional role.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
